Oh, What to Write About?

I wish I had more to write about, but I really don't. So for the next few weeks (ok, maybe months), you'll probably only hear about Jack. And Matt once he starts UPT in August.

Right now, my life is full of floor wiping and hands smelling like treats. We are going through paper towels like they're oxygen, but that's life with a puppy, I guess. He's getting much better with the potty training, he's able to signal at the door now and he usually goes in the same spot in the garden. That's definitely a nice bonus, since it's not my yard, technically, and I really only care about the flowers I planted and the veggies, I don't care all that much where he goes. Good that it's in the dirt instead of the grass, though.

I wish he was better at crate training, though. Jack still whines at night. He's currently in the living room because we don't want him to wake the doublex neighbor, but maybe we'll try moving him into our bedroom again and see how that goes.

Jack is a pretty smart puppy! He knows sit, down, shake, and he knows to wait for his dinner, although that's REALLY tough for him. He does know kennel means to go into his crate, but he hardly ever goes in there on his own. He would much rather sleep at our feet. In fact, he usually follows us around and will crash in whichever room we are in. I'm going to start working on leave it, drop, and bed, which is an Air Force blanket that I hope to use to make him get out from under foot. I'm also hoping that we can use that in the future for when guests come over or if I need to clean something. Currently, whenever I have to clean up a puddle, he finds my paper towels extraordinarily awesome to try and kill.

He's pretty good on walks, too. We don't walk him to far, but so far he doesn't pull to much. That only happens if he sees something he wants to put in his mouth. Goodness, I hope the chewing phase stops soon. EVERYTHING goes in his mouth. Even all the bushes in the yard. Like I said, I could care less about the bushes since I don't really like them anyway, but I don't want him eating something that could be poisonous.

It's really nice having Matt home from IFS. He's currently on casual until he starts UPT in August, so he only occasionally has an office job to report to. This week he was given Urine Analysis. Basically, he sits in the medical office where they conduct the random drug testing and he gets to watch people to make sure they don't see. Yes, that means exactly what you think it means. AWKWARD. He's glad that it's almost the weekend and will not have to do that again.

And now I must stop staring at the computer screen, I woke up with a headache this morning and it hasn't really gone away.
